Managing Your Personal Information

UT Knoxville gives students control over their personal information— both to comply with privacy laws and to ensure records remain accurate. Students can update their legal or chosen names, phone numbers, addresses, and director preferences directly through university systems.

Chosen Name Changes

Any student at UT may request to use a chosen first name without providing legal documentation. This name will appear in most university systems. 

To update your chosen name: 

  1. Log in to MyUTK using your NetID and password
  2. Select Change Chosen Name from the My Resources menu
  3. Enter your chosen name on the landing page and click Update Chosen Name

Note: It can take up to 24 hours for the update to appear throughout UT’s systems.

Updating Phone Numbers

Students can update their phone number(s) in MyUTK:

  1. Log in to MyUTK
  2. Select Nammer Self-Service Home from My Resources
  3. Select Update Addresses and Phones under the Personal Information menu

Updating Addresses

If your address changes, you can update it in MyUTK:

  1. Log in to MyUTK
  2. Select Update Student Addresses
  3. Choose the address to be edited from the drop down menu and click Submit

Updates may take up to one week to appear in your account. If you need assistance, contact One Stop.

Payroll Office: If you are a UT employee, you must also complete a new W-4 form with Human Resources Management
