If you register for May Mini-Term or Summer 2026 courses after on or after May 18, you will be required to pay your Account Balance in full or enroll in the Payment Plan by May 26 to avoid late fees and registration holds.

Payment Plan Schedule
If you wish to enroll in the Payment Plan, you must pay 50% of your total Account Balance when you electronically enroll in the Payment Plan using MyUTK or the AU Portal.
Once enrolled in the Payment Plan, you must make two additional payments (each 25% of your total balance) during the semester. Make each Payment Plan installment on time to avoid a $35 late fee for each late payment.
- June 30: Payment Plan Installment (75% of original Account Balance)
- July 29: Payment Plan Installment (100% of original Account Balance)

Accepted Payment Methods
One Stop Tutorial: Making Payments
After deciding whether to make a one-time payment or enroll in the Payment Plan, select one of the following payment methods:
Pay Online via MyUTK or AU Portal
- E-Check: Make a secure, no-fee payment directly from a checking or savings account. This is UT’s preferred payment method.
- Credit or Debit Card: Pay online using a credit or debit card. A 2.95% vendor service fee applies to all card transactions. This fee is charged by the payment processor, not UT.
Pay By Mail
- Third-party Billing or 529 Plan: If you are using a 529 college savings plan or a third-party sponsor (such as an employer or scholarship organization), request that payment be mailed by the posted “mail by” date each term to ensure receipt and processing by Payment Due Date.
- Check, Money Order, or Cashier’s Check: Mail payments by the posted “mail by” date each term to ensure receipt and processing by Payment Due Date.
Make checks payable to “The University of Tennessee” and send to:

Refunds
If you receive more financial aid than you owe or overpay your balance, UT will issue you a refund.
Set Up Direct Deposit (eRefunds; Optional)
We recommend setting up an eRefund account in MyUTK so any excess aid or refunds can be deposited quickly and securely to your bank account.
- Log in to MyUTK using your NetID and password.
- Click View/Pay Fees in the My Financial Information section.
- Click eRefunds and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.
Your eRefund profile stays in place throughout your time at UT. Be sure to update your information if your banking situation changes!
Add Refunds to Your VolCard (Optional)
Students may transfer up to $1,000 of excess aid to their VolCard for on-campus use.
- Log in to MyUTK using your NetID and password.
- Click VolCard Transfer in the My Financial Information section.
- Follow on-screen prompts to complete the process.
Important Notes on Refunds
- Some fees are non-refundable.
- If you drop classes, withdraw, or are dismissed, your aid may be recalculated, which could result in a balance you’ll need to pay.
- You can authorize federal aid to cover non-tuition charges when accepting your aid.
GradGuard Tuition Insurance
UT partners with GradGuard to offer optional tuition insurance. GradGuard can reimburse up to 100% of your nonrefundable school costs after a mid-semester withdrawal for a covered illness, injury, and more.
Authorized Users
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects your privacy at UT. We won’t discuss your personal information with others unless you give us permission.
If there’s someone you want to have access to make payments, view your account, or talk about your financial aid, you can add them as an Authorized User (AU) in MyUTK.
