Eligibility and Criteria
If you are an admitted out-of-state first-year student with a minimum 3.8 UT Weighted Core GPA and apply for admission by December 15 of your senior year in high school, you will be automatically considered for these institutional scholarships.
To be eligible:
- Submit your new test scores to determine eligibility for the Out-of-State Volunteer Scholarship so they can be received by UT by April 1. Only scores through December 2025 will be considered.
- Matriculate the fall semester immediately following your graduation from a US high school
- Be a US citizen, permanent resident, or domestic international student
How to Apply

How to Keep the Out-of-State Volunteer Scholarship
To keep the Volunteer Scholarship, you must:
- Maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA)
- Maintain federal Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
- Maintain full-time enrollment throughout each semester

How does this combine with other scholarships?
As an Out-of-State Volunteer Scholar, you may also qualify for other UT Scholarships, such as the Provost Scholarship.
You must meet each scholarship’s specific criteria and eligibility requirements.
If your combination exceeds UT’s allowable award maximums, your award amounts may be adjusted.
