Next Chapter Scholarships and Scholar of the Year Award Amounts

Students who complete the Next Chapter Program, a 5-year curriculum, will receive an annual scholarship of $1,500, renewable for up to four years.

One student will be selected as the Next Chapter Scholar of the Year, based on holistic review of their admissions application and supplemental materials.

Eligibility and Criteria

Next Chapter Scholarship

To be eligible for this award, you must:

  • Complete the 5-year Next Chapter program
  • Apply for admission by December 16 of your senior year in high school.
  • Be enrolled and attending the fall semester immediately following graduation from a US high school
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or domestic international student.

Next Chapter Scholar of the Year Scholarship

UT selects one student as the Next Chapter Scholar of the Year, based on a holistic review of their admissions application and supplemental materials. The selected scholar will receive a scholarship valued at tuition and mandatory fees for up to four years.

To be eligible for this award, you must:

  • Apply for admission by December 16 of your senior year in high school.
  • Be enrolled and attending the fall semester immediately following graduation from a U.S. high school
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or domestic international student.

How to Keep the Next Chapter Scholarship & Scholar of the Year Awards

In order to retain both the Next Chapter Scholarships and the Next Chapter Scholar of the Year award, you must:

  • Maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA)
  • Maintain full-time enrollment throughout each semester
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements

How do the Next Chapter Scholarship & Next Chapter Scholar of the Year Scholarship combine with other scholarships?

The Next Chapter award cannot be combined with the Volunteer or Orange & White scholarships, but Next Chapter scholars may qualify for other UT awards, like the UT Pledge, Promise, or Provost Scholarship. If your combination of scholarships exceeds UT’s allowable award maximums, your award amounts may be adjusted.
